What it is

Power Ranking is a performance-based indicator that updates automatically after official matches. It helps athletes and organizers understand competitive level beyond medals or raw win counts.

Power Ranking rules

Affects Power Ranking
  • Official ranked matches that were actually competed (the match started).
  • Standard win/loss outcomes during the match.
  • Injury or forfeit after the match has started.
Does NOT affect Power Ranking
  • Exhibition matches.
  • Walkover (WO) — no‑show / withdrawal before the match begins.
  • Disqualification (DQ).
  • Injury or forfeit before the match starts.
Winning vs stronger opponents
Produces a larger Power Ranking increase.
Losing vs lower opponents
Has a greater impact to keep rankings honest.

What it is NOT

  • It does not replace age, belt, or weight divisions.
  • It is not a world/federation ranking.
  • It is not a manual or fixed score.

Internal engine

Power Ranking is powered internally by the Elo Rating System, a proven model used to measure relative competitive strength. This keeps ratings consistent and comparable across events and tournaments.

Age, weight, and belt define who can compete. Power Ranking defines how strong a competitor is within that space.
